As part of a hotel revitalization, mackaywong was invited to re-conceptualize and design Delta Hotels by Marriott Calgary South’s underachieving restaurant to re-energize revenue for the property. Working closely with the management team, the dated restaurant was re-imagined into a successful food and beverage destination, focused on games and entertainment with a casual social atmosphere. As part of the scope, the existing Video Lottery Gaming room was also relocated to the restaurant as an extension to the games and entertainment-forward concept.
Riffing off the property’s location and combining it with “Yard”, a reference to the notion of a backyard, lawn, patio, and terrace – all places of comfort where someone could find themselves cracking open a beer, relaxing and having a great time socializing and playing games with others, a new restaurant name and brand identity was born. A complete brand package was developed, including the signage and menu programs. An environmental graphic program was used to enhance the gaming atmosphere and provide a departure from that of the hotel umbrella.
