Located in the heart of Downtown Halifax, the Delta Hotels by Marriott Barrington has long been a popular destination for business travelers because of it’s close proximity to the city’s banking and administration core. Built in the early 1970’s and constructed as a multi-use development on Halifax’s busiest vehicular artery, the Hotel however has always struggled to project a strong and confident hospitality presence for the Delta Hotels by Marriott brand. In 2012, a master plan was created by the Landlord to consolidate a variety of street facing tenants into one single restaurant lease that would serve both the hotel and the city at large. mackaywong led the creative response and designed a seamless storefront that visually unites the hotels’ lobby, new café, restaurant and lounge. The result is a contemporary and operationally efficient hospitality strategy that not only serves hotel guests effectively, but also connects the property with the city in a meaningful way. Tempo Restaurant and Lounge has become an instant success within the local Halifax dining landscape.
