For over fifteen years, the Mnjikaning First Nations and mackaywong have been working together to create Casino Rama Resort, an internationally renowned gaming and entertainment destination in Rama, Ontario. Located on a 100 acre Mnjikaning Reservation, Casino Rama is home to spectacular gaming, destination restaurants, a five thousand seat concert venue, retail, hotel and leisure spaces.
The casino was originally designed as a temporary home, yet neither the Band Council, nor the community, could bring themselves to develop the proposed 32 acres of virgin Lake Couchiching shoreline into the sprawling new permanent location. Instead, the existing 30,000 sq ft gaming property was transformed into a 140,000 sq ft resort destination. The new casino celebrates Ojibway culture, which is rich in mythology, art and a deep respect for the landscape and its Creator. The result sensitively promotes a blend of First Nation themes, symbols, natural materials and modern detail.
