Toronto, ON —mackaywong is proud to announce the completion of the concept and design work for the newly opened boutique hotel Toor Hotel – JDV by Hyatt and The 203 Residences, a 32-storey mixed-use tower developed by Manga Hotel Group in partnership with Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Positioned at the intersection of Jarvis Street and Shuter Street, this dynamic new address brings refined hospitality and elevated urban living to the heart of Toronto’s east end.
A Unified Design Vision for Public and Private Realms
Our scope encompassed the full interior design of the hotel’s public areas, including the arrival experience, reception, lobby lounge, corridors, amenities, and Muse Bistro + Bar—the hotel’s two-storey signature restaurant and bar.
In addition, mackaywong was engaged to design the residential rental suites, common areas and amenity spaces for The 203 Residences, delivering a residential experience that shares the hotel’s spirit of calm sophistication. This included the residential lobby, corridors, rental suites, co-working spaces, private amenities, and wellness spaces—ensuring that both hotel guests and permanent residents are welcomed into environments that feel connected, elevated, and distinctly rooted in the Garden District neighbourhood.
Nature-Inspired Urban Living
Drawing inspiration from nearby green spaces such as Allan Gardens and Moss Park, the Garden District design embraces the concept of “blooming within the city.” Public and residential spaces are imagined as modern-day greenhouses—serene, structured, and layered with rich, organic textures. Refined finishes, rhythmic patterns, and curated moments of boldness reference the timeless beauty of historic conservatories and palm houses.
Muse Bistro + Bar: A Contemporary Classic
A sophisticated visual identity and space was developed for Muse Bistro + Bar that supports a seamless day-to-night dining experience. Designed with a contemporary continental bistro-bar aesthetic, the space effortlessly supports vibrant breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail service, offering an approachable yet refined gathering place for hotel guests and the surrounding community alike.
Together, the Toor Hotel and The 203 Residences represent a new kind of downtown lifestyle—one that balances the vibrancy of the city with the calming influence of nature, all through a cohesive and contemporary design lens.
