Shaped by coastal climate, inspired by local building traditions and constructed of simple, authentic materials, @mackaywong had the privilege of helping a Resort conceptualize part of their space where the space subtly emphasizes the importance and value of how materials are connected and sends the message that “details really matter”, all while maintaining a level of esthetic, durability and customization. The design strategy looks for creative ways to celebrate and showcase the energy, passion and creativity found within the people and teams that work hard to bring the brand’s experience to life for their guests.

The mackaywong creative team was instantly inspired by the vast beauty of the locale and deeply influenced by the passion that the people of Kamloops have for living fully and completely in a landscape that defines their unique sense of “place” in the world. This inspired the development of a bold design vocabulary that explored an interesting array of natural textures, patterns, colours, geometries and scale. Our experiential strategy obsessed over spatial ideas such as movement, path, intersections, thresholds, transparency and vista.
